Catherine Turocy, drawing from concepts of the Vitruvian Man of Leonardo Da Vinci and from dancing masters of the 17th and 18th centuries, will introduce you to universal principals still relevant in dance today. You will learn asarabande as part of the process. You will gain an understanding of Baroque Dance and find a fresh perspective on your own creativity. All dance levels are welcome. Catherine Turocy, Director of The New York Baroque Dance Company (NYBDC), has mentored dancers and choreographers using period dance as a basis for their contemporary works including Sarah Edgar, Caroline Copeland, former Ballet Santa Barbara dancer Carlos Fittante and Patricia Beaman. She promoted Austin McCormick and Company XIV, and was the first to present their work in 2007 at the Mark Morris Dance Center. Neo-Baroque theater/dance creations by Trisha Brown and other major choreographers are more prevalent on the dance scene than ever before. For more information on Catherine Turocy, click HERE.
