Our members are professional dancers, aspiring dancers, dance students, new and just-for-fun dancers, established and emerging dance companies, dance lovers and performing arts audiences. On The Verge 2011

Jackie Botts, age 17 is a sophmore at Dos Pueblos High School and has choreographed a Contemporary Ballet piece called Take Off Your Cool that she will perform as a solo.

Thomas Salgado age 19, a sophmore at Santa Barbara City College, has choreographed a Flamenco piece called Fuego that he will perform with Maria Salgado.

Co-Choreographer's Aryanna Aronson, age 15 and Claire Patterson, age 16 (not photographed) attend Santa Barbara High School and have choreographed a Hip-Hop piece called Take a Minute for the non-profit organization, Everbody Dance Now!

Kelley Furukawa, age 18, (not photographed) is a senior at Laguna Blanca School and has choreographed a Contemporary Modern piece called The Ladder for her three dancers, Kelsey Flegal, Hayley Kay (photographed) and Emily Stokes.

Louisa Vanhecke, age 13, is a 7th grade student at Santa Barbara Christian and will be performing her solo Contemporary Ballet piece titled Initiative.

Fiona Chandrasekaran, age 13, (not photographed) has choreographed a a Modern piece called Shadows that will be performed by Emilia Artusio, Olivia Avery, Giulia Castleberg, Emily Clark, Natalie Mohr and Lianne Sturgeon.

Tess Brennan, age 19, a Sophmore at Santa Barbara City College, choreographed a Contemporary piece with dance partner Stephen Fambro, called Summer Heat.

Russ Glick, age 17, and Sophia Phillips, age 15 have choreographed an aerial piece called Las Nubes.

Alaina Lucido

Alaina is from Nordhoff High is performing her solo to music with Afro-jazz roots.  Her modern movement moves from floor to air as she uses momentum and release in a highly physical piece about repression and freedom.

Armando Cervantes - 17

Armando has choreographed an all boys hip-hop dance that includes break-dancing, pop, locking and stunts. He is a member of the performance group D-Boyz at Santa Barbara High School.

Aryanna Aronson - 13

Aryanna dances with Santa Barbara Dance Arts and she has created a hip-hop duet with extreme attitude and intricacy.

Corrie Jiminez and Cari Helchuis

Corrie and Cari are performing a flamenco duet with props, a hat and a fan, and amazingly quick footwork.  Their beautiful costumes in blue and green compliment their smooth style and captivating charisma. Both choreographers dance with Linda Vega Dance Studio.

Kaci Yamanaka - 18

Everybody Dance Now is a group of young dancers being taught dance by teen teachers in an after school program. The program was designed by Jackie Rotman, who is a teen herself.
Kaci brings together a group of talented at-risk youth who perform with the organization Everybody Dance Now!. The 14 dancers are dancing in a high-energy hip-hop routine. These are the Everybody Dance Now performance troupe.

Gianna, from Nordhoff High in Ojai, is working on a piece that brings elements of release and tension together through her movement in a contemporary lyrical solo.

Maria Avila & Diego

Maria Avila - 15

Maria is a first time teen choreographer from San Marcos High and she is presenting a piece with both salsa and merengue styles in it for two couples.  She is with her partner Diego.

Nikki is a student at SB Dance Arts and will go on to Cal Arts next year in the Dance Dept.

Robin Zelko - 16

Robin has created a solo about her Grandfathers shirt. She wears the shirt he left her when he passed away. Robin has choreographed for the last 3 or 4 Teen Concerts, increasing her skill yearly.

Robin develops her own theatrical hip-hop style to the stage for the 3rd year.  Her ensemble of 11 dancers showcases a fluid style of feminine inspired hip-hop moves with a sassy twist.

Taylor has choreographed for ON THE VERGE for the 4th year.

Taylor Fisher - 16

Taylor is choreographing a modern quartet which she describes as quirky, feminine and uncomfortable.  Costumes are based on 1920’s era lingerie and the piece is set to an alternative folk ballad.
